The Forest Model Village is in its second full year of operation. An ambitious project The Model Village depicts scenes from around and linked to the Forest of Dean in Gloucestershire. The Forest of Dean is a magical place steeped in history, heritage and legend.

One of the many models at Model VillageAs the Model Village matures it is fast becoming a potential venue for enthusiasts interested in modelling. Many aspects of modelling are employed from buildings to railways from figures to mechanics. Voluntary and employed model makers are part of the Team at the Forest Model Village and more are always welcome to get in touch.

Recently the Gloucester Model Boat Club has had some great days with us here, our relatively small area of water presenting some special challenges! Visiting Model Clubs are a welcome addition to our Village and we are always keen to hear from Clubs who may wish to exhibit, demonstrate their skills and recruit potential new members.

At the Model Village we have an area of water and also a G scale railway track which could possibly used for “guest days” either electrically or steam powered! The Forest Model Village would be pleased to hear from Clubs. There is a great deal which we could learn. At the moment the Model Village would like to incorporate more movement in to various scenes and it would be very good to hear from model makers who have installed static exterior models which incorporate movement from various sources of power. It might be electrically powered, wind, water or solar! It might be that you are a model maker looking for a home for models you have produced.

If you are interested why not get in touch or come along for a visit. You never know it could lead to a Guest day for the Club and we are always pleased to meet model makers, share ideas and have chat.
