Model Club in Greater Manchester, founded in 1932
Rochdale Society of Model and Experimental Engineers is one of the oldest model clubs in the UK. It is also a founder member of the Northern Association of Model Engineers.
Club Members interests include road steam engines, clocks and automata and model steam railways.
Meetings are held twice a month on Friday evenings between 7pm and 8.45pm in Rochdale.
The Club welcomes new members to both their meetings. Track days and visiting owners/drivers are always welcome to join them on running days.
The Club`s track, which is based at Springfield Park, Bolton Road, Rochdale, OL11 4RE. It accommodates:
- 31/2, 5 and 7 1/4 inch gauge model locomotives
- Live steam trains
- Battery, electric and petrol locomotives
Weather allowing it is open every Sunday afternoon between April and October. A perfect afternoon out for visiting drivers, passengers and onlookers alike.
